History and Tradition | The Frankincense resin is commonly burned in Christian churches during religious services. It was always used as a support for any kind of consecration, purification and for meditation. |
Information | Incense is extracted by cutting the plants Boswellia: Boswellia Papyrifera, Boswellia Sacra or Carteri, Boswellia Serrata. The Boswellia Serrata is found mainly in India and surrounding areas, and is less valuable. Boswellia Papyrifera grows primarily in Ethiopia, Boswellia Sacra originates from Yemen, Oman and parts of Somalia. These two varieties of incense have many similarities, the only slight difference is that the scent of Boswellia Sacra is more dry and less citrate. |
