Typology: Basic incense - Root

Plant: Inula helenium

Origin: Italy

Aroma: Sweet, pungent

History and traditions: The root has already been used in very ancient times in fumigation mixtures, in particular those used for midsummer celebrations because it is considered a symbol of the sun's energy. Enula is also highly appreciated in Indian culture, where a local variety, Inula racemosa, has always been used.

Information: Enula's fresh root, or rhizome, has a banana-like odor and was once also used as an ingredient in various dishes. Once dried, it gives off a pleasant aroma reminiscent of incense and violets, with pungent notes.
