Information: Frankincense is extracted by incision from Boswellia plants and precisely Boswellia Papyrifera, Boswellia Sacra or Carteri, Boswellia Serrata. The latter type is found mainly in India and neighboring areas, and is the least valuable.
Boswellia Papyrifera grows mainly in Ethiopia, the Sacred one is native to Yemen, Oman and part of Somalia. These two varieties of incense have many similarities and the only small difference is the scent of Boswellia Sacra which has citrus notes.
