Myrrh is an aromatic gum rosin, extracted from a tree of the Commiphora species, of the family Burseraceae. There are about fifty species of Commiphora but the most widely used for the production of myrrh is Commiphora myrrha (widespread in Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan, the Arabian Peninsula).
